Samsung may be obligated to pay Apple $1.05 billion in damages, but their legal battles are not over. After Apple added the latest Samsung devices
to the patent infringement suit, Samsung has responded by adding the
iPad mini, 4th-gen iPad, and 5th-gen iPod Touch to their lawsuit.
The South Korean company has also previously filed for a motion to
add the iPhone 5 to the mix and it was successful. This time, Samsung
used the same claims to sue Apple’s latest tablets and media player:
infringement on Samsung’s two UMTS wireless patents in the cellular
variants, as well as patents related to functions in both cellular and
WiFi models.
The deadline for amendments to filings in this case is today
(November 23rd) and expect Apple to return the favor. The trial will
not be decided until 2014.
