"Foxconn Admits Employing Minors to Test Nintendo Wii U"

Uh-oh. Foxconn has admitted that hired underage interns at its Yantai factory in China to “test” the Nintendo Wii U game console. It is speculated, however, that these underage workers could be part in the production of the console.

The minors in the factory, some as young as 14, number to as many as 56. Chinese laws has a minimum working age of 16.
Upon learning of the incident, Nintendo puts up a statement, saying that it is investigating the matter. Theh Japanese company adds that Foxconn should comply to the Nintendo CSR Procurement Guidelines that were set up in July 2008, which a based on “relevant laws, international standards, and guidelines.”
“If we were to find that any of our production partners did not meet our guidelines, we would require them to modify their practices according to Nintendo policy,” Nintendo states.
Foxconn claims that it has sent the underage interns home and promised to fire anyone responsible for hiring minors.
