After being previewed for over a year, the Nintendo Wii U will finally be available for retail, arriving in the United States on November 18th and Europe on November 30th. The next-gen gaming console, which features a touchscreen controller that looks and functions like a tablet, will come in a $299.99 Basic white version with 8GB of onboard storage and a $349.99 Deluxe black version with 32GB storage capacity.

The new controller gives games an added element of play either through a second-screen content or by the ability to play games on the tablet-ish GamePad itself instead of the TV.

There have been criticisms over the Wii U, especially over its short battery life of three to five hours and how the controller cannot be operated on its own without the Wii U base, which Sony has capitalized when it made the PS Vita a second-screen device option for some PS3 games. Originally, each console can only support one GamePad at a time, but Nintendo has since said the Wii U will have support for two GamePads. Owners of the new console can also connect up to four Wii Remotes at once, as it is also compatible with Wii games.

The Wii U will also be available in Japan on December 8th and in Australia on the fourth quarter.
