Nikon has unveiled its
latest camera with interchangeable lens. The Nikon 1 J2 promises
high-quality still photos and full HD video clips, all in a
point-and-shooter that easily fits in your pocket.
The latest camera from the Nikon 1 line features a 10.1-megapixel
CX-format CMOS with EXPEED 3 processing, an ISO range of 100-3200,
stereo microphone, HDMI and USB connectivity, a battery life that lasts
for 220 shots, and a 3-inch 921,000-dot LCD display at the back. The
camera can capture stills of up to 3,872 x 2,592 resolution and full HD
videos at either 60i or 30p. It comes compact at 106 x 61 x 21.8 mm and
comes in six color options.
Other capabilities include burst mode at up to 10fps with AF enabled,
or up to 60fps with first-frame AF lock; a motion snapshot mode that
combines a single still with a short slow-motion movie clip; and a smart
photo selector that captures stills at different speeds and displays
what it thinks as the best option. There is also the creative mode that
offers various presets including panorama, miniature, selective color,
soft, night landscape, night portrait, and backlighting.
On the lenses aspect the Nikon 1 J2 comes with a stock 10-30mm lens,
but users can switch it with an optional 1 Nikkor 11-27.5mm f-3.5-5.6
lens with 2.5x zoom.
The Nikon 1 J2 will be available on retail this September priced at
$549.95. The 1 Nikkor compatible lens will drop later that month for
$189.95.
