A handful of tech journalists may easily dismiss the CES simply because Apple prefers to showcase their devices in their own events, but this year’s Consumer Electronics Show has its share of gems. What has gotten many attendees turn heads is the gaming-dedicated tablet by Razer.

Formerly known by its code name “Project Fiona” when prototypes were revealed in last year’s CES, the Razer Edge brings graphics-intense PC games to a 10.1-inch tablet. Significant changes have been made since its prototype model was unveiled, including removing the permanent side-mounted controllers.

This tablet comes with Intel i5 or i7 processors, NVIDIA GT640 LE GPU, and up to 8GB of RAM. These specs are usually found in desktop PCs and several powerful laptops. Razer does not exaggerate when they said the Edge is the “most powerful” in the world, as it vows to provide over 30 frames-per-second for all current titles. Some games would even run to as high as 59fps, delivering HD-quality visuals.

The Razer Edge is only 0.8 inch thick and weighs just 2 pounds. It is not as light or thin as the iPad or Microsoft Surface for obvious reasons. It comes with an optional gamepad case with rumble feedback for a Wii U-esque experience (like in the photo), as well as a keyboard dock for MMO games and a docking station that can be attached with up to two USB controllers.

This tablet is slated to be available in the first quarter of this year and will come in two options. The Razer Edge features Intel Core i5 processors, NVIDIA GT640 LE, 4GB of RAM, and a 64GB SSD; while the Razer Edge Pro sports Intel Core i7 chips, NVIDIA GT640 LE, 8GB of RAM, and your choice of 128GB or 256GB SSD. Price will start at $999.
