Yota Devices Dual LCD and E-Ink Phone |
The smartphone market is a pretty competitive market that is usually
just lorded over by a popular few. But that doesn’t mean that some
smartphone manufacturers may not have the opportunity to enter into this
market segment and try to make a name for themselves. Innovation may
help such device makers establish themselves by offering something new.
Such is the plan of Russian company Yota Devices as it introduces a Dual
LCD and E-Ink Phone.
The Yota Devices Dual LCD and E-Ink Phone is designed to have to
different screens for users to take advantage of. It has a 4.3-inch LCD
display on the front and an E-Ink display of the same size on the
opposite side. It is an Android phone that comes with a 1.5 GHz
Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, LTE
connectivity and a 12MP camera. All these features are packed into a
smartphone that is just 10mm thick. The device aims to use the E-Ink
display not only for reading e-books, but also as an alternative means
of saving battery power. The Yota Devices Dual LCD and E-Ink Phone is
expected to come out by the third quarter of 20132. No details have been
provided yet as to what its pricing may be.
