"Apple Allegedly Testing TV Set Prototypes"

Apple TV Set

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Apple is testing out prototypes of high-resolution television sets and is working with several manufacturing partners in Asia, two of which are said to be Foxconn and Sharp.
Citing sources, the publisher adds that the tests are at the early stages. While Apple has yet to confirm the existence of such tests, we can say there are some maneuvering going on to make Apple flat-screen TV a reality. Foxconn has been planning to put up factories in the United States that manufacture television sets of an unknown brand. Meanwhile, Apple CEO Tim Cook was quoted on NBC, saying that television is “an area of intense interest” for his company. Let’s also not forget the late Steve Jobs famously telling his biographer before he breathe his last in 2011 that he had “cracked” television.
“It isn’t a formal project yet,” WSJ’s source claims, adding that Apple has the option not to proceed with the development of Apple-branded TV sets.
But if Apple gives this project a green light, how would these TV sets be different from the $99 Apple TV set-top box being sold, apart from the obvious addition of a screen? Looks like we will find out soon.
