"Samsung Not Intent to Settle with Apple Over Patent Row"

Apple - Samsung

While HTC and Apple have ended their legal battles with a settlement, Samsung has “no intention” to do the same with the iPhone maker. Samsung Electronics Head of Mobile J.K. Shin said so to reporters when asked if his company might pursue a settlement similar to the 10-year cross-licensing agreement between Apple and HTC.

Apple and Samsung tried to settle their patent infringement issues, which spans 10 countries and multiple lawsuits, but with little progress. In 2010, the Cupertino-based company reportedly offered its South Korean rival a licensing deal for iPhone- and iPad-related patents at around $30 to $40 per device. Samsung rejected the deal.
Top executives of both companies have also met multiple times, twice this past year, as they try to find an arrangement that would satisfy both parties. Court orders were even issued to try to force a resolution, but both Apple and Samsung remain in each other’s throats.
