Just in time for the holiday shopping season, Archos
introduces the FamilyPad, a 13.3-inch tablet designed for whole
families to gather around and watch movies or play digital board games
that come pre-installed into the device.
The Ice Cream Sandwish-powered Archos FamilyPad has 10 times the
multitouch capability, making the screen responsive to up to ten finger
inputs at the same time. That amazing feature aside, the device does
not have the best internal hardware: an HD display with 1,280 x 800
resolution, a microSD card slot, 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, HDMI
output, and 2-megapixel cameras on the front and back. It would also
offer “a variety of email accounts for each family member.”
People in the United Kingdom can purchase the Archos FamilyPad for
£274.99 (around $438) when it arrives in December, while those in the US
might have to wait for its arrival.
