"Google Announces New Nexus Devices"

Google may have cancelled its high-profile event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy, but the company went on in announcing its latest Nexus-branded hardware. The two new Android-based gadgets, namely the Nexus 4 handset and Nexus 10 tablet, will become available on retail beginning November 13th.

The Nexus 4, which was manufactured by LG, also functions as a game controller when connected wirelessly to a TV. It also features a new panoramic camera tool called Photo Sphere, which what Google claims is “unlike any panorama you have ever seen” because users can be able to take panoramic shots in every direction to “create stunning 360-degree immersive experiences.”

The Samsung-made Nexus 10 tablet, meanwhile, is touted to have the “world’s highest resolution display” at 300 pixels per inch on its 10-inch screen. It can also manage multiple profiles, which means it can be used by more than one person. The tablet has an advertised battery life of 500 hours on standby or nine hours of video play.

Users of both devices will have access to “Google Now,” which provides notifications on flight alerts, hotel recommendations, and package tracking depending on the user’s location and the contents of their previous emails.

Google has also announced that its Nexus 7 will now come with 3G connectivity on its top-end model. However, all versions of Nexus 10 remain WiFi only.

The price for Nexus 4 starts at $299 for the 8GB model, while the 16GB Nexus 10 begins at $399.
