We reported three weeks ago about the Swiss Federal Railway (or SBB) accusing Apple
of lifting the design of its iconic (and trademarked) clock for iOS 6.
It has become a source of amusement at the expense of the American
company that has been accusing others, most prominently Samsung, of
patent infringement.
Although Apple did not utter a word on the matter, SBB has announced
last Friday that this story has achieved some kind of closure as a
settlement has been reached.
“For the use of the clockface on certain Apple devices such as iPads
and iPhones, the parties have negotiated an arrangement that enables
Apple to use the SBB station clock under a licence agreement,” according
to SBB in its official statement. “The parties have agreed that the
amount of the licensing fee and any further details of the licensing
arrangement will remain confidential.”
And with that, we can never hear Apple put its foot on its mouth. Sad.
