Tabeo |
In an attempt to combat the “showrooming” behavior that has crippled its brick-and-mortar retail stores, Toys “R” Us has announced it will be selling its own children-oriented tablet computer.
The Tabeo is available exclusively at Toy “R” Us for $149.99
beginning October 21st, so customers will not just marvel at the device
then search online on a rival retailer’s website for a lower price.
Pre-orders are now available online through Toysrus.com.
The Toys “R” Us Tabeo is powered by an unspecified Android OS and
closely resembles an adult tablet compared to other made-for-children
tablets. It comes pre-installed with 50 free game applications,
including Angry Birds. The toy store even developed its own app store,
which currently publishes and distributes over 7,000 titles.
It even comes with a children tracking feature that enables parents
to control what websites the children visit, as well as the amount of
time their children spend playing with the Tabeo.
With the holiday season right around the corner, Toys “R” Us hopes to sell their very own Tabeo like hotcakes.
