YouTube App Disappears from iOS6 Update |
If you plan on updating your iPod, iPhone or iPad with iOS6 beta, you
will notice something missing: that retro TV icon symbolizing the
YouTube app. Apple has announced that the YouTube app had been removed
from the latest version of iOS6 because its “license to produce the
program had expired.”
The Apple version of the YouTube app had been on the iOS since the
iPhone was first launched in 2007. Google will instead develop its own
version of the app, which will be available on the Apple App Store soon.
The fourth beta version of the iOS6 was released by Apple on August
6th, with the final version expected to arrive in September in time for
the rumored launch of the new iPhone. Despite the absence of YouTube on
iOS6, not all of its functions have disappeared. Apple stated that
users can still play videos by visiting YouTube with a web browser.
Videos can also be uploaded on YouTube straight from the phone or
tablet.
