OLPC XO-4 Touch |
It seems that it is not only those more popular high end tablets that
can generate some buzz in the market. A non-profit organization, One
Laptop Per Child Foundation is currently generating some excitement, but
not in the usual consumer markets that most tablets compete in. OLPC is
generating some public interest mostly in developing countries as it
has announced that it will be coming up with the new OLPC XO-4 Touch
tablet and laptop hybrid.
The OLPC XO 4 Touch has been confirmed for launch by the non-profit
organization in its mission to provide affordable laptops accessible to
kids all around the world, mostly in the areas where people can’t afford
it. The new OLPC XO 4 Touch will be part laptop and part tablet and
will be using the new low power Marvell ARMADA 2128 processor. The
organization’s new laptop and tablet hybrid is reported to be designed
by Yves Behar. The new OLPC tablet hybrid will feature a 7.5 inch multi
touch and sunlight readable display that is developed by Neonode. The
new OLPC XO 4Touch is slated to come out in 2013 with the actual launch
date and pricing not yet set.
