Pico projectors are no longer considered to be new technology. But it does offer people the means to make use of portable projectors that they can easily put into their pockets. It makes such projectors able to be integrated to portable devices as well. And with some companies eyeing this niche as a promising market, more and more players are getting into the manufacture of pico projectors. General Imaging has recently devised their own with the launch of the ipico Handheld Pico Projector.

The ipico Handheld Pico Projector is one of those few portable pico projectors that have recently been introduced into the consumer market. It is designed mainly for the iPhone and the iPod to give the popular iOS device another means of providing video output to a portable device. The ipico can easily be connected to an iPhone or an iPod with its built-in pop up connector. When attached, the ipico can project an image or video for up to 50″ in size on any flat surface.

The ipico portable pico projector only weighs 3.35 ounces and is around two-thirds of an iPhone’s width and just over half an inch thicker. This makes it quite handy to carry around. It comes with its own rechargeable lithium ion battery and is set to be available in the market sometime this holiday season. It is also expected to cost around US$130 to have.
