Apple vs Samsung |
After winning its patent infringement case
against Samsung in a US court, Apple is seeking a sales ban on eight of
Samsung’s smartphones in the United States, as well as an extension of a
preliminary ban on one of Samsung’s tablet computers.
The eight Samsung phones Apple wants banned include the Galaxy
Prevail, one of the South Korean company’s top selling units in the U.S.
from mid-2010 to mid-2012; Galaxy S II Epic 4G, ranked the third-best
seller; Galaxy S 4G, the fourth-best selling; and the Galaxy S II
T-Mobile, the eighth-best. There is also the Galaxy S Showcase, the S
II AT&T, the S II Skyrocket, and the Droid Charge.
It is worth noting that Samsung’s latest flagship devices, including the Galaxy S III, were not included in the case.
Apple is also seeking to extend the ban on the Samsung Galaxy Tab
10.1, which Samsung wants to be lifted after the jury found the tablet
did not infringe the Apple design patent that the court-ordered sales
ban was based. However, the jury also found that the Galaxy Tab 10.1
infringed on three of Apple’s software patents.
The court has scheduled the hearing regarding the ban requests from Apple on September 20th, although the date may change.
