"Panasonic SC-PT750: Home Theater System"

Panasonic SC-PT750: Home Theater System

An entry level to Panasonic’s home theater system, the SC-PT750 model is a CD Payer, DVD Player, Tuner, with 5.1 Speakers, 125 W/Channel, plus an iPod dock.
The SC-PT750 packs a lot of features but the best come-on is the design. Housing the receiver and five-disc CD/DVD changer is black, 6.5 inches high by 3.5 inches wide by 6.5 inches deep box with small yet prominent front panel buttons and controls. Everything has been designed to be easy to use, with quick loading and unloading of discs.
The home theater system features front left and right speakers at 10.5 inches long and about 5.5 inches tall and an center speaker oriented horizontally. The speakers themselves are fitted in black plastic cabinets with matching black cloth grilles which makes them perfect for the black base unit. You can mount them on walls if you like.
Performing adjustments to the controls can be done with the Channel Selector button on the remote, plus subwoofer volume allows a four-step level adjustment. Instead of bass and treble controls, the system has an EQ control with Flat, Heavy, Clear, and Soft options.
The SC-PT750 also features two wireless surround speakers that need to be connected to the wireless receiver/amplifier that in turn needs to be plugged into an AC power outlet. Relatively, this model has fewer parts thus makes it easier to set up.
This Panasonic model also sports a medium-density fiberboard subwoofer measuring 16.7 inches high by 7 inches wide by 10.1 inches deep and weighing 8.8 pounds.
The receiver’s digital amplifier carries the 1,000 watt rating and the Federal Trade Commission rating of 428 watts. Power is distributed to the three front satellite speakers and the subwoofer. The surround amplifier carries 34 watts per channel and the receiver/DVD changer’s has the usual Dolby and DTS modes.
The SC-PT750 also offers upconverted, 1080p video connectivity, an XM Satellite Radio ready feature, and an iPod dock. It does, however, have just one stereo analog audio input and no digital audio inputs which means 5.1 Dolby Surround soundtracks is not an option for cable/satellite boxes or game consoles. The iPod dock supports fourth generation iPods and the later models. The system also includes plastic dock adapters fitting different iPod sizes.
This Panasonic home-theater unit supports MP3, JPEG, and WMA playback off a data CD.
All in all, the SC-PT750 is a great system and at $370 it has the best value especially with the wireless speakers. Despite some let downs and a few quirks to the system, the SC-PT759 offers more than the step down SC-PT650 model with very small price difference. The speaker system is well built and produces quality sound despite its compactness.
