"Deutsche Telekom Talks with MetroPCS on Possible Acquisition"

It has been confirmed that Deutsche Telekom, the parent company of T-Mobile, is meeting with regional carrier MetroPCS on a possible acquisition deal.

According to AllThingsD, “significant issues have not yet been finalized, contracts have not yet been signed and the conclusion of the transaction is still not certain.” If the buyout suffices, the German wireless carrier plans to utilize MetroPCS’ resources to boost up T-Mobile’s coverage.
Details on how much Deutsche Telekom will pay for MetroPCS in case of an acquisition remains scant, but shares of MetroPCS rise by as much as 23% when news broke out, giving the company a market value of around $5 billion.
T-Mobile is currently the fourth largest wireless carrier in the US after AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint, with an estimated 33 million subscribers. Meanwhile, MetroPCS has around 9.3 million prepaid customers.
